‘Tis The Season…for Slips, Trips and Falls
With wet weather upon us, we here at GSRMA would like to urge you to take extra precautions while walking on floors that could potentially be wet or slippery. The best way to prevent falls is with engineering controls such as rough surfaces, minimizing transitions in flooring and designing walkways with proper handrails and code compliance. Requiring employees to wear shoes with slip resistant properties is another preventative strategy to consider.
We encourage you to take a look around and identify the areas where slip and fall accidents are likely to exist. Building entrances, restrooms and water fountains come to mind as well as break rooms and any floor surface that does not have adequate drainage or floor characteristics to prevent slipping. Consider mats to be used when weather is rainy and people are likely to bring moisture into your facilities on their shoes.
Call it increasing awareness—or call it mandatory training—this is the perfect time of year to have conversations regarding this issue. If you would like more information on this, or any other topic, our Loss Prevention team is here to help. Please call (530) 934-5633 or write to us at firstname.lastname@example.org
