Blue Shield of California is going to do a system upgrade effective 11/1/2015. This upgrade will trigger new membership ID cards displaying a new subscriber and group number which will be sent out the first week of November. Click here to view the Blue Shield Member Letter & FAQ sheet. Please review documents and inform your employees of what to expect so they are not completely confused when the change is implemented. An important note to make is all subscribers will receive new ID cards shortly after 11/1/2015 but if they make any changes during the open enrollment period in October, the changes will prompt a second set of ID cards in December or January. The cards received in December or January will be the updated cards as they would reflect the open enrollment changes.
