Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic we recently had to cancel our scheduled in-person trainings we had planned for April and May, specifically our AB1825 Unlawful Harassment Prevention and AB1234 Ethics. Being these are compulsory trainings for all CA Special District Board Member’s, we knew we had to come up with a solution quickly for our membership, and that solution was to move our trainings online.
We notified our membership that our April in-person Ethics & Harassment trainings were cancelled but we would instead be holding them online, via Zoom. Our in-person events generally drew about 70-80 individuals, mainly from the Sacramento Valley as we were holding the training in Williams, CA. By switching to Zoom, we were able to not only increase our actual capacity for the training but also reach a much wider audience than usual. Our AB1234 Ethics training had 39 districts participate, and 105 individuals certified. Our AB1825 Harassment training also had 39 districts participate, and 119 individuals certified. For both trainings, our member’s districts ranged from as far north as the Oregon Border, to as far south as Los Angeles.
Of course, we still plan on offering in-person trainings, and we held off on doing the May Ethics & Harassment training over Zoom so that we could still reach our members who prefer trainings the old-fashioned way. We plan on rescheduling this training once all Executive Orders regarding gatherings have been lifted.
GSRMA Loss Prevention staff will be hosting a series of monthly trainings, via Zoom, and we invite you to take a moment to look at our upcoming calendar. We plan on supplementing our trainings with some additional items so make sure to go to our Member Resources page and check our Training Calendar Frequently(scroll about halfway down to see the calendar)!
